Teatime at Black Canyon Coffee House

I was pretty bored one afternoon and my best mate called me up to have tea with him. So I went down over to Aeon Jusco(Bukit Tinggi Klang). He was already there and was waiting for me in Black Canyon Coffee House.

To be honest, I heard some pretty bad reviews of the place in the past. And ever since, I have never gone there. But since he was already there, I decided to just join him (I was to lazy to think of some other place to go as well =p ).

So there he was browsing the net on his laptop. He had a drink in a very nice roundish cup. I asked him what he was having and he told me it was some rum-coffee thingy. I tasted it and it wasn't that bad actually. So I called for the menu and browsed through it and saw this really nice cup that a coffee was served in. So I decided to order that. It was called Mexican Milk Coffee. It came in this boot shaped glass =) It looked really nice and, it tasted pretty good. I checked the name of Danny's drink and it was called Jamaican Rum Coffee.

The prices if you are wondering, is much cheaper then Starbucks or some other coffee outlet (amazingly). They were priced at Rm 8.50 each. =) We both felt that it was really worth it. So if you guys are wondering where to have a nice (or maybe interesting) cup of coffee, head down to Black Canyon Coffee House. =) Enjoy...

Dining in at Thai Thai Sunway Pyramid

I was in Sunway Pyramid recently with my better half and we were figuring out what to have for lunch. We were both pretty hungry after having her portrait drawn but had no clue what we wanted to eat... =p As we were walking, right opposite of us, was a Thai restaurant (we have this thing for Thai food I guess). It looked pretty nice from the outside and so, we decided to have a try.

As we were browsing through there menu, one of their friendly waiters showed us a bigger menu so that we didn't have to strain our eyes =p We were then ushered to our sits. Might I add that the ambiance of the place has a nice cozy feel to it. They had nice soft lights, sofa chairs and pillows too =D

We didn't waste to much time with the menu and quickly ordered our meal (for we were starving at that point). We decided on having Chicken Tom Yam, Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish, Japanese Tofu cooked in Sweet & Spicy Sauce and for drinks, we had Chinese Tea.

When the food arrived, I have to say, I was impressed. The Chicken Tom Yam tasted really good. It had the authentic Thai taste to it (reminded me of the Tom Yam I used to have in Thailand). The Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish tasted alright to me (it was prepared in a standard way). As for the Japanese Tofu, I had to say, it tasted pretty good. Now I am not really a tofu fan, but since my darling dearest placed one on my plate, I decided to eat it anyways. I didn't regrat it at all for it tasted real good (Thank You my Love). The taste of the sweet & spicy sauce was cooked just nice with an even balance to both taste. And what did we pay for this meal you wonder? It cost us just around Rm50. Yes, shocking but true. =) For that kind of food, it was so so worth it.

So, if you are ever in Sunway Pyramid and craving for Thai food, head on down to Restaurant Thai Thai for a wonderful meal. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The food taste really good, their portioning is very reasonable, their pricing is splendid and I have to add, their service is really really fantastic. Our waiter didn't even allow me to stand up to serve myself... He actually came and said "no need to stand up sir", and proceeded to serving us. Excellent service indeed. So, do try out Thai Thai and let me know if you feel the same way alright? Enjoy!!! =)

Dinner at Restaurant Kampung Thai 32

I recently went down to Ampang Puteri Hospital to visit someone. After my visit however, I was starving... And the funny thing was, I was craving for Thai food... =p Thankfully, there was a Thai restaurant just across the road =D What luck!

So me, my better half and her sister went on over to this little shop which had a really nice and cozy ambiance. It was called, Restaurant Kampung Thai 32 (I actually didn't see the 32 there at first, but saw it later =p).

 

So, anyways, I was really hungry and we decided to order 4 dishes. Of course, we had to have our Tom-yam. We also ordered, Ikan Bakar (Grilled fish or BBQ fish), Fried Squid and Kailan with Oyster Sauce. The Tom-Yam i had to say tasted a little different, more to the sweet side but had a lot of stuff inside (squid, prawns, and loads of other stuff). The Ikan Bakar tasted different too (you can choose from quite alot of fish there, but we picked the stingray). It had a more sweet, spicy taste. The Fried Squid was awesome (especially when dipped in some special garlic sauce they gave us) and the Kailan was cooked really nicely as well. But, honestly, at first we felt that it was rather pricey... But when we saw the portions we were getting, we agreed that it was really worth it. In total, we paid about Rm90. This included drinks (2 glassesof chinese tea, 1 coconut, and 1 glass of lychee). We were also given complimentary appetizer (Squid Chips) and dessert (Honey dew with sago).

So, if you are looking for a good Thai restaurant, I would recommend Restaurant Kampung Thai 32 to you guys. Its reasonable when it comes to price and portion, and the food taste great as well. Restaurant Kampung Thai 32 is located right across Ampang Puteri Hospital. So go on down there and I hope you guys enjoy their food as much as I did. =D Enjoy!!!

Papa John's Pizza's! =)

I was out the other day at Aeon Jusco in Bukit Tinggi (not too far from my home) and was looking for lunch. Me & my darling dearest had no clue at all of what to eat. Then we stumbled upon the opening of a new restaurant, Papa John's Pizza. It was their first day in operations.

We were greeted by a nice gentleman (I am guessing he was the manager because he wasn't wearing a name tag like everyone else). He spoke well and did not even attempt to force us to have a meal there. Instead, he just told us about the difference between their pizzas and other restaurants pizzas. It didn't take much too convince us actually (for I was pretty hungry =p). So in we went and was guided to our seats, a nice cozy spot at the back. I took a moment to look around and sort of observe the place and its surroundings. It was pretty nice actually. A cozy ambiance, peaceful setting (nothing too fancy) and they even had their tables made to match their ceiling =D (that I found pretty unique).

Shortly after being seated, a waitress came up to us and the first impression that I got was, "Wow, that's a good introduction." She gave us her name (Chear), and told us that if we needed anything to just give her a call. So after, we were looking through the menu and a small petite Malay girl came to take our order. We weren't too sure what to eat so, we decided to take a set A (a 9' pizza, a set of breadsticks, and 2 drinks). We also decided to try some of their other dishes and ordered a bowl of baked rice (with mushroom, chicken and cheese) and their famous cheese sticks (it was really good).

Our meal came in about 20 minutes, and with every dish, they included a small bowl of their special tomato based dip, garlic butter dip and also a pair of zesty, spicy peppers. Interesting stuff. =) Then it was time to dig in =D In the end, we felt we ordered maybe a little bit too much =p and ended up packing home some of the food. But everything tasted really good.

A funny incident happened as well while dining there. We requested for salt but there was none available =S pretty shocking and weird... But then again, it was their first day. Later, a floor manager by the name of Cherian came up to us and we told him about the salt that never came to us. He apologized and told us that they didn't have any prepared and he actually ran out to buy some back. =D excellent service!

So, in total we paid Rm 48.70 for our whole meal. That was really worth it because of the amount of food we got. =) I would recommend this place to all pizza, pasta, Italian food lovers. A really nice place, with good food, and friendly staff. =)

Burger Kings NEW Burger =p

I was pretty hungry the other night and so me and a friend of mine decided to have dinner in the new Burger King in Bukit Tinggi, Klang (For those unsure of where it is, it is at the Shell station. Go past the Giant Hypermarket traffic light and continue to go straight. It will be on your right). I really wasn't to sure what I was gonna eat. I thought maybe a Whopper or Grilled Chicken Burger would do the trick.

But when I got there, I was in for a delicious surprize.

They had a new burger on their menu. A promotional item I guess. But I couldn't be bothered. It was the all NEW BBQ BEEFACON CHEESE STACKER!!!! (B.C.S for short) =p 

There are 3 types of the B.C.S. There was the single, double or triple B.C.S. Or to Burger King, Gutsy, Defiant and Fearless.

Since, I was feeling hungry and really tempted, I went for... yup you guessed it, FEARLESS. =p And for those of you who are planning to try this out, trust me, it is soooooooo worth it. I ordered a large set and it came up to Rm 22.00 (it is a little pricey, but worth the try).

What I got was of course the usual drink and fries. But when it came to the burger... It was awesome!!! Three tender layers of beef patties and a layer of beef bacon. Between each layer was cheese and bbq sauce. I chowed down on my B.C.S and when I was done, I was all filled up and happy =D

Dinner In TJ Haus Restaurant (Subang) =)

Its was the night before fathers day so my family and I decided to go out for dinner to celebrate it. We decided to head to TJ Haus Restaurant. A small little restaurant located in SS18 Subang. It might be hard to spot the place at first, but just remember, the restaurant is on the 1st floor not the ground floor.

TJ Haus specializes in European Dishes and trust me, the food is awesome!!! Not only their portions are quite big, the food is really tasty and also the price is very reasonable. They have a really interesting concept where they try to price their dishes below RM 30. They have a really nice, cozy and peaceful ambience. So enough with my blabber, here are some pictures of the place and some of the dishes I ate. Enjoy!!! =)

After eating, we decided to wash our food down with a Brazilian Smoothy. (Coffee, Vanilla Ice-cream and Chocolate) <-- Need I say more? ;)

 

And has you leave the place, walking down, you will notice yet another angel (and an old radio thingy)

Well, that's it. I could have had more pictures but my family decided to start eating before I had the chance to take any pictures. =p But trust me, TJ Haus is a really nice place and I would recommand it to anyone who wants to have a nice meal. May you be single, with a group of friends, going with your partner, family or anyone, it doesn't matter, cause TJ Haus is really worth it.

Their operating hours are from 11.00am - 2.00pm and 6.00pm - 11.00pm. They are closed on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. For reservations, please call them at 03-56364508. And for those of you who are really keen on going there, here is their address, 27 A, SS18/1B, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor. I hope you guys enjoy their dishes as much as I did =)

Thai Green Curry

For my first food posting, I thought of doing something Asian. So I decided on Green Curry. I made my first Green Curry some years back when I was in France. At the beginning I was a little worried and concerned about the taste. But, feeling a little bit adventurous, I went on cooking it anyways. Final word, AWESOME!!! So here a simple Thai Green Curry recipe. I hope you guys like it. Enjoy~~~  =)

Ingredients

• 400 Grams Beef (You can also use Chicken, Pork or Fish)

• 3 Tbsp Thai Green Curry Paste (Use prepared / canned green curry paste or you can choose to make it yourself)

• 2 1/2 Cups Coconut Milk

• 5 Small Fresh Thai Eggplants (Cut into pieces) (You can also use Snow Peas, Baby Corn or Long Beans)

• 3 - 4 Fresh Red and Green Chilies (Sliced)

• 2 Fresh Lime Leaves (Torn)

• 1 1/2 Tbsp Fish Sauce

• 1/2 Tbsp Sugar (White or Brown)

• 1 Tbsp Sunflower Oil (Peanut Oil or Corn Oil can also be used)

• Garnish: 1 Bunch Cilantro and Sliced Red Chilies

Preparation

1. Slice the beef into thin pieces about 1/3" (3 cm) thick. (If you are using chicken, select boneless thighs or breast)

2. Saute the green curry paste in oil over medium heat until fragrant 

3.  Reduce the heat and gradually add 1 1/2 cups of the coconut milk a little at a time.

4. Stir until a film of green oil surfaces.

5. Add the beef and fresh lime leaves and continue cooking for 3 minutes until fragrant and the beef is cooked through. Transfer to a pot, place over medium heat and cook until boiling.

6. Add the remaining coconut milk, season with sugar and fish sauce.

7. When the mixture returns to the boil, add the eggplants, cooking them until they are done.

8. Sprinkle red and green chilies over, then turn off the heat.

9. Arrange on a serving dish and garnish with cilantro and red chilies before serving.

Note: Served best with fragrant rice (E.g Jasmine Thai Rice)

Well, basically the title says it all when it comes to this section of my blog.

I will be reviewing stuff like, restaurants, cafes, recipes, local dishes, home made dishes, and many other things. I'm also hoping to add in beverages, wines, desserts, and a whole list of other food and drinks.
